What is air or aire?

Air or aire is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless mixture of gases which mainly consists of nitrogen (about 78%), oxygen (about 21%), and small amounts of other gases such as carbon dioxide, argon, and neon. It surrounds the Earth's surface and extends to an altitude of about 500 kilometers. It plays a vital role in supporting life on Earth by providing the essential oxygen needed for respiration, as well as protecting the planet from harmful ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Air also serves as a medium for sound and aids in the transfer of heat from one place to another. Human activities such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation have resulted in air pollution, which poses a significant threat to the quality of air and health of living beings.
